You might already have heard about Phi Phi Island - a tropical island between Krabi and Phuket , Thailand / Asia . Almost every island in the world claims to be one of the most beautiful - a tropical island in paradise. Phi Phi is no exception! And judging by the return visitors we have – some have been coming here regularly for over 10 years – there seems to be some truth in the claim.
Since the Tsunami of December 04 the island has made an excellent recovery by now the only noticable physical change to a new comer is a reduction in available accommodation. The atmosphere is more laid back than before with local people really appreciating the business tourism brings supporting there recovery
Lucikily Phi Phis reefs escaped the Tsunami virtually unscathed meaing phi phi is still by far the most convinent location for divers who would like to explore the Andaman sea with a majority of dive sites not more than 40 minutes from your hotel.
Even the fact that 2oth Century Fox chose Phi Phi
as the location for shooting Leonardo Di Caprios film “The
Beach” just goes to show that this is an exceptional
island! But what makes it so special? Well of course it depends
on what you’re looking for. If you want 10 discotheques to
choose from, jet-skis, motorbike and car-rental this will not
be the right place for you. Also, there are no ´rent-a-girls
or guys´ here!
What to do…Adventure..Vacation..Holiday..
Phi Phi is special. There are no roads here so
there´s no need for motorbikes or cars. This makes life quieter
and more relaxed than usual. But not less exciting. You can go walking,
climbing, kayaking, snorkeling, deep sea fishing or scuba diving.
Water skiing, windsurfing and parasailing can be done as well. Or
you can just lie around on one of the many beautiful beaches. Don’t
miss out on a relaxing traditional Thai massage! Whatever you do,
you’ll enjoy your time here. (By the way, the water temperature
is normally about 28°C!!) A perfect tropical island for your
vacation/holiday in Asia - with enough adventure possiblity for
everybody. Phi Phi Island in the Andaman sea between Krabi and Phuket
offers it all.
Eating....
Phi Phi has numerous restaurants to choose from.
Whether you prefer Italian pizza or pasta, German schnitzel, or
traditional Thai food you can choose between dozens of different
places. Phi Phi even has two bakeries with all sorts of cakes and
other mouth-watering savories. All have one thing in common, good
value for money.
Sleeping...
We understand that after spending a great day diving you'll want to relax, which is why we've teamed up with Phi-Phi.com . As the foremost Phi-Phi accommodation provider, they are ideally equipped to find suitable accommodation at discounted rates. Whatever your taste or budget, you'll be able to find what you're looking for. Please remember to book at Tonsai village (near the main peer), as this is the closest area to our diving centre.
Drinking...
There are Quite a few bars on Phi Phi so there
is great nightlife if you want it places range from a grass hut
on the beach with cocktails to an air conditioned irish bar .
Quite a few places show videos all day and at night. At Carlitos
and Hippies´ bars you can listen to good music sitting with
your feet in the sand drinking a cold beer or cocktail, and later
on in the evening move up to the Reggae Pub or Tiger bar to dance
until the early hours of the morning.
How to reach the tropical island...
Most visitors come over from Phuket. There are two departure times,
at 8.30 am und at 1.30 in the afternoon. Boats now leave from the
new port in Phuket town. Make sure you get the boat going to Tonsai
bay. There is a fast catamaran leaving every day which goes to the
north of the island. From here you have to take a longtail boat
which can be quite bumpy! You can also come from Krabi town four
times daily, Ao Nang beach at 8.30 am, Railay Beach at 8.45 and
from Lanta Island at 8.00 am and 2.00 p.m.
And leaving the tropical island...
..is just as easy with morning and afternoon boats in all directions.
If you´re planning on continuing your journey or not sure,
only buy a one-way ticket because tickets are non-refundable and
there are different boat companies on the various routes.
